Back in 1973, in Hollywood California, Darryl Marshak and Ethan Margalith, 2 teenagers fresh out of high school, "best friends" and roommates needed work for the summer before starting college in the Fall. They were ready to do whatever people needed to be done; painting houses, running errands, gardening, etc. After Darryl was offered $20 to streak nude' - a short-lived craze of the early 70's - Ethan settled on moving.
So they bought what they could afford - an old 1944 Dodge Truck. While one was painting on the side of the truck "Students - Mover for Hire", the other said as a lark, with a truck like that we should say we are "Starving". The company eventually became the largest local mover in the country. And although the company is no longer a moving company, and is now investor-owned, the founders are still involved.
And they are still best friends! The story of Darryl and Ethan - it isn't Ben & Jerry, but then again it isn't ice cream.
