Seaford Transfer
Seaford Transfer began moving customers in our local Hampton Roads community in the fall of 1989 with a focus on complete satisfaction at the end of every move. That philosophy continues today and is why our customers continue to refer us to their family and friends. Our staff including move coordinators, surveyors, and sales and administration are happy to help you answer a question about an upcoming move, provide you a tip on packing, purchase supplies, or schedule your next move.

Although we are primarily known for moving household goods wherever you may need, we also have relationships with several local and national companies to haul various types of FTL (Full Truck Load) freight. We can provide spot rates, hourly, or mileage rates on request.
Services
Seaford Transfer is a family-owned local, national, specialty moving and storage company headquartered in Yorktown, Virginia.
Operations now benefit from an established staff of more than 25 movers, packers, warehousemen, and administration.
Seaford Transfer has several authorities to move freight and household good.
These authorities allow us to service commercial moves, freight, local and intrastate customers, corporate relocations, and military members.
As an agent for Wheaton Van Lines, we provide our customers with Interstate hauling capabilities through the nation.
All moves serviced 30 miles or under, from house to house, are considered local moves in Virginia.
Our local moves are priced based on an hourly rate that starts when our crew arrives and stops when your move is finished.
We move people to apartments, new homes, retirement homes, self-storage, rearrange rooms, and more.
We also move large furniture like safes, pianos, hot tubs, and workshops and tools.
Household goods moves within the state of Virginia, 31 miles or more, are considered Intrastate moves.
Our #1 job is to make sure you are completely satisfied before we leave.
Our packers and movers are professional, hard working and personable.
They are trained to handle items carefully and take pride in satisfying our customer's needs.
All goods are moved with the care and expertise that comes with that specialized training and experience.
Our movers will arrive with the proper vehicle(s) to load your household goods, being sure to wrap the furniture in quilted pads to protect its finish.
When they arrive at your new home your goods will be placed in the location you best seem fit and all furniture that needed to be disassembled to move will be reassembled before we leave.
All movers in Virginia are required to hold a Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) certificate in order to handle shipments 31 miles or more, between homes.
The Virginia Movers & Warehousemen's Association publishes a Tariff which members use as a catalog of services with their associated rates or fees.
Tariff rules also stipulate how the service is to be performed and the method that a fee is applied.
A booklet entitled Making a Better Move in Virginia will be provided to you before your intrastate move.
Interstate shipments come with their own unique circumstances so the Federal Highway Administration has provided Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move Handbook to consumers preparing for their interstate moves.
Wheaton has provided this handbook to describe how these moves work, moving terms, and what to expect on your move.
Long distance moves that cross state lines are considered interstate moves.
Only movers with proper household goods authorities may conduct these moves.
One thing that makes Seaford Transfer unique to many other movers is that we have our own interstate authority, but choose to work as an agent for a large van line.
