Southwest Movers Association (SMA) is a trade association representing the household goods moving industry in Texas. SMA is dedicated to enhancing the performance and profitability of moving companies and promoting a safe and reliable moving industry that includes strict adherence to state laws and ethical standards. SMA provides a variety of services to its members, industry and the moving public in the form of education, public policy development and advocacy, discount programs and tariff service.

SMA also has a non-profit foundation which provides scholarships and funding for other educational initiatives. Southwest Movers Association (SMA) was founded in 1917 as the Texas Warehouse and Transfermen's Association in Fort Worth, Texas. S.J. Westheimer of Houston organized the meeting and served as the association's first president.

In 1931, the Texas Warehouse and Transfermen's Association became Texas and Southwest Warehouse & Transfermen's Association when Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico were taken into the regions served by the association.
Services
The Pinnacle Mover Program promotes and recognizes professional competence and adherence to ethical standards on the part of movers operating in Texas.
Certification signifies a mover's organization has agreed to operate under industry standards beyond the minimums required by law insuring a commitment to the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction.
To qualify and achieve certification, a mover must meet and maintain certain required criteria.
Certification is valid for one year from the date of certification.
The Southwest Movers Association Code of Ethics is the set of guiding principles that help our members achieve excellence.
By strictly adhering to its principles we ensure that our members will increase their customer and employee satisfaction, in addition to building sound business practices to ensure success.
Members shall develop and encourage the practice of high standards of personal and professional conduct among themselves and their employees.
Members will observe the highest standard of honesty in all transactions, avoiding the use of false, confusing, inaccurate and misleading terms, descriptions and claims.
The SMA Tariff, prepared and monitored by the association, ensures members stay current on rules and regulations.
